La unidad anticorrupción de la fiscalía general de Perú detuvo el lunes a seis generales en el marco de una investigación sobre presuntos ascensos ilegales de policías y militares por parte del gobierno del depuesto ex presidente Pedro Castillo.
La policía también se incautó de "documentos y dispositivos" durante una redada en el domicilio del ex ministro de Defensa de Castillo, Walter Ayala, informó la unidad anticorrupción.
Castillo, que fue detenido a principios de este mes después de que los legisladores lo destituyeran por intentar disolver ilegalmente el Congreso, está siendo investigado por tráfico de influencias. Se enfrenta a seis cargos distintos de corrupción, todos los cuales ha negado.
"A través de estas intervenciones, seis de los investigados fueron detenidos. Las diligencias (…) incluyen 26 allanamientos en todo el país", dijo la Fiscalía en Twitter.
El ex presidente izquierdista cumple 48 meses de prisión preventiva mientras es investigado por cargos de "rebelión."
La fiscalía dijo en Twitter que los generales detenidos están siendo investigados por "presuntamente haber pagado para ascender de rango en 2021 con la autorización del ex presidente Pedro Castillo."
El ex ministro de Defensa Ayala criticó el allanamiento a su domicilio y la detención de los generales.
"Esto ha sido innecesario, porque no han encontrado nada", dijo Ayala a periodistas. "Esta investigación tiene más de un año (…) esto es un show".
